    What is ESMA Certificate?


    ESMA Certificate is a certificate that regulates the product safety, quality and environmental standards of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology) is an institution authorized by the UAE government and is responsible for assessing and certifying the compliance of products with relevant standards.

    ESMA certificate is a certificate of conformity that allows products exported to the UAE to enter the market by meeting the safety and quality requirements. It is especially issued under EQM (Emirates Quality Mark) or CoC (Certificate of Conformity).

    ESMA Certificate Types


    EQM (Emirates Quality Mark):

    A certificate that shows compliance with quality and safety standards.

    It is usually requested for products that require long-term and regular inspections.

    CoC (Certificate of Conformity):

    A certificate of conformity that confirms that products comply with UAE standards.

    It is especially required for the passage of products through customs during import.

    Documents Required for ESMA Certificate
    Technical File:

    Document explaining all technical features, production process and safety standards of the product.

    Content:

    Product description

    Technical drawings and diagrams

    User manual

    Information about production processes

    Test Reports:

    Test reports obtained from an accredited laboratory proving that the product complies with the standards specified by ESMA.

    For example:

    LVD (Low Voltage Directive) and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) tests for electrical devices

    Safety tests for toys

    Hygiene and chemical compatibility tests in food products

    ISO 9001 Certificate:

    Document showing that the manufacturer has a quality management system.

    Declaration of Conformity (DoC):

    Document issued by the manufacturer or importer declaring that the product complies with ESMA standards.

    ESMA Certificate Application Process

    Preparation of Technical File

    A file containing the technical details and safety standards of the product is prepared.

    Performance of Tests

    The product is tested in an accredited laboratory in accordance with the standards specified by ESMA.

    Application and Review

    The technical file, test reports and other documents are submitted to ESMA.

    ESMA evaluates the conformity of the product.

    Issuance of the Certificate

    For products whose conformity is verified, an ESMA certificate (EQM or CoC) is issued.
