True Testing Services (TTS) Laboratory Services draws on years of experience to provide solutions for the industry’s needs with a comprehensive infrastructure and expert staff in the analysis of biocidal products. Our Biocidal Product Analysis Laboratory offers services in licensing, product development (R&D and P&D), and formulation design.
Conducting accurate analyses of biocidal products is an essential part of ensuring a production process that meets both national and international standards in terms of efficacy, safety, and compliance.
Biocidal products are classified into four main groups and 22 product types, according to their intended use and target effects:
Disinfectants
Human Hygiene (Product Type 1)
General Disinfectants and Algaecides (Product Type 2)
Animal Hygiene (Product Type 3)
Disinfectants for Food and Feed Areas (Product Type 4)
Drinking Water Disinfectants (Product Type 5)
Preservatives
Product Preservatives During Storage (Product Type 6)
Surface Preservatives for film, wood, fiber, leather, building materials (Product Types 7–10)
Coolant, slimicide, and cutting fluid preservatives (Product Types 11–13)
Pest Control Products
Rodenticides, avicides, piscicides (Product Types 14–17)
Insecticides, acaricides, and repellents (Product Types 18–19)
Other products used for controlling vertebrates (Product Type 20)
Other Biocidal Products
Anti-fouling Products (Product Type 21)
Embalming and Taxidermist Fluids (Product Type 22)
TTS Laboratories has a comprehensive infrastructure for biocidal product analyses. These analyses are carried out by our specialized laboratory units with expertise in different fields:
Physical Analysis Laboratory: Performs tests to evaluate the physical properties of products.
Chemical Analysis Laboratories (Wet Chemistry and Instrumental): Conducts active ingredient analyses, impurity assessments, and chemical stability tests.
Microbiological Efficacy Laboratory: Tests the product’s effects against bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
Cell Culture and Antiviral Efficacy Laboratory: Carries out virucidal efficacy tests and evaluates cellular compatibility.
Biocidal product analyses involve a variety of tests to assess product efficacy, safety, and stability throughout shelf life:
pH, viscosity, density, color, and odor evaluations
Active ingredient determination and formulation analysis
Shelf-life and stability tests (short-term and long-term)
Bactericidal and Fungicidal Efficacy: Tests the product’s effectiveness against microorganisms
Virucidal Efficacy: Evaluates viral effects using cell culture techniques
Preservative Efficacy Test (PET): Measures the product’s capacity to maintain microbiological stability
Verifies that biocidal products meet legal requirements
Prepares label information and usage instructions based on test results
Short-Term Stability Tests are conducted under accelerated conditions to measure product performance. The product is held at 54 ± 2 °C for 14 days and then subjected to physical and chemical analyses. If the test results are satisfactory, long-term stability tests are initiated.
Temperature (± 2 °C) | Duration (Weeks) |
---|---|
54 | 2 |
50 | 4 |
45 | 6 |
40 | 8 |
35 | 12 |
30 | 18 |
Long-Term Stability Tests are carried out monthly to ensure the efficacy and safety of biocidal products throughout their actual shelf life under real-use conditions.
