The European reference test method has changed to demonstrate compliance with the limitations in Annex XVII of KKDIK regarding nickel release in products that are in direct and prolonged contact with the skin. Covered products include body-piercing metal accessories, various types of jewelry, watches, zippers, clothing accessories, and sunglasses, which may release nickel that can cause sensitivity, nickel allergy, and even nickel dermatitis.

According to the Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (KKDIK), which was adapted from REACH and published in the Official Gazette on June 23, 2017, practices affecting the domestic market are mandatory.
